Carlton Communications’ new cable channel, Carlton Food Network, launched yesterday along with industry speculation that it is already considering extra broadcasting at the weekend.
The channel, which will show a range of programmes about food and cooking, is currently broadcasting on Carlton Select’s weekday daytime slot between midday and 5pm *Carlton Plans New Cable Channel but sources suggest that the Network is looking to extend its broadcasting hours to include weekends as well. A spokesman for the channel however would not confirm this was going to happen.
The weekend also saw the launch of two new Sky channels, Sky 2 and the Weather Channel, with further launches planned for November *Sky Unveils More New Channels, whilst Granada Sky Broadcasting will launch seven new cable and satellite channels on October 1 *Granada Unveils New Channel Details.
