Johnston Press plc has today announced pre-tax profits of £16.836m, an increase of 14.8% year on year. Turnover was up by 7.5% to £102.438m for the year ended 31 December 1995.
Fred Johnston, Chairman, said, “The rise in newsprint prices also appears to have greatly slowed, if not altogether ceased, and this is another welcome development.
1996 will see a full year’s contribution from North Notts Newspapers and William B Harris. The year will also benefit from the full effect of newsprint usage efficiencies implemented during the course of 1995…. The message therefore is much as it was a year ago – cautious optimism.”
