TV Market Round-Up: February 2011

Flatscreen Television

February was a good month for television, particularly for ITV, which not only banked the number one viewing spot with Dancing on Ice, but also enjoyed a 18.6% rise in revenues.

ITV1 posted the highest percentage increase during the month, though Channel 5 was not far behind with a 16.6% YoY rise.

After months of being down last year (July to November), Richard Desmond’s company put in an impressive performance to kick-start the year.

However, Channel 4 saw revenues fall during the month, down 4.6% on the same period last year. The channel –  which claimed second place in the February top programmes list with Big Fat Gypsy Wedding (the series peaked with 8.8 million viewers) – took a hit after posting the highest percentage increase in December (up 10.4%).

Despite Channel 4’s results, overall total terrestrial revenue was up 10.7%, while total satellite was up 20%.
