Last month the average weekly cinema admissions figure topped the 3 million mark for the first time in 20 years. The August’93 figure of 3.19m was an increase of 28.7% on August’92 and an increase of 9.6% on July’92.
August is generally a good month for admissions due to the school holiday period, which was boosted this year by the success of Jurassic Park.
