The proposed takeover of Virgin Radio by Capital Radio has been put on hold after Margaret Beckett, president of the Board of Trade, decided to extend the deadline for the Monopolies and Mergers Commission to make its report. The MMC had been due to make its report on 14 November but this has now been put back to December 5.
