Granada Franchises Warned Over Late Tender Payments

Granada Franchises Warned Over Late Tender Payments

The Granada Media Group has been warned by the ITC for failing to meet the payment deadline for its broadcasting licences. Granada Television, LWT, Yorkshire and Tyne Tees all failed to pay the Commission the monthly tender charge which was due on 27 March and which, collectively, runs to over £10 million. Payments were received on 1 April.

In view of this, the ITC has charged interest on the licensees’ fees as well as issuing a formal warning.

Granada says there was a problem with its central clearing point which handles payments for all four franchises. The company has assured the ITC that a similar event will not happen in the future, therefore the ITC will not impose further sanctions.
