The Guardian will be launching a revamped Saturday package on April 25 which will see the launch of a new supplement and the expansion of other sections.
The Saturday edition of the newspaper will boast a new colour tabloid magazine called Travel while its sport coverage becomes a stand-alone section with increased features and more fixtures. Meanwhile, Weekend will carry a new section on lifestyle which will include more coverage on food and drink, homes and gardens and fashion and style while the Guide will increase pagination to provide more features, detailed listings and an improved regional coverage.
The Guardian has also appointed Charlie Burgess, currently at the Daily Mail, as assistant editor with special responsibility for Saturday and Monday papers.
