Radio 1 Halts Decline
According to leaked Rajar figures for April, published in Broadcast, Radio 1’s audience has increased by 500,000 – weekly reach figures have increased from 10.5m in Q1 1995 to 11.05m for April. These figures include the first week of Chris Evan’s new breakfast show.
Virgin Radio which launched it’s FM service on 10 April, has also experienced an increase in audience of around 1 million weekly listeners. Talk Radio UK,the speech based service also saw a rise in April. Its weekly reach figures have jumped from 1.55 million listeners in March to 2.05, taking it’s share of listening to 1.5%.
The next Rajar period, which will cover April-June, will not be released until August.
