Chrysalis And Border Radio Forge Sales Alliance

Regional radio groups, Chrysalis Radio and Border Radio Holdings, have today announced the creation of a new strategic alliance which will offer a national sales operation.

Chrysalis currently operates seven stations across the country, most under the Galaxy brand, and Border owns the three Century stations based in Manchester, Nottingham and Gateshead. This ten-strong network is to offer advertisers a ‘more cohesive’ buy across the country.

Don Thomson, commercial director at Chrysalis, says: “Chrysalis Radio’s philosophy has always been to sell ‘Radio Brands’ in the national market, and the Heart and Galaxy brands are still growing fast. The addition of Border’s Century Radio brand will enhance this philosophy further. We will market these stations as vigorously as Heart and Galaxy.”

These brands together cover over 60% of the UK population and deliver nearly 40 million listening hours per week, says Thomson. In the Midlands 100.7 Heart FM and Century East Midlands cover the whole of the Central TV region. In the North, the alliance will offer a stronger competition to EMAP Radio’s Magic and Metro stations.

The details of the new sales initiatives arising from this agreement will be announced in the next few months.
