RA Receives 2 Applications For Coleraine Licence

The Radio Authority (RA) has received two submissions for the new ILR licence to serve the town of Coleraine, County Londonderry. The following groups applied:

  • Catch FM (Trevor Smyth, 01265 662 242): a totally local, personality-led, music-based station painting a colourful daily picture of life within the Causeway Coast;
  • Causeway Coast Radio (Elizabeth Fitzpatrick, 01265 329 964): a mix of lively national and local news, current and community affairs, sports and music presented by local presenters.

The licence covers an area with a population of around 30,000. The RA expects to announce its decision on the award of the licence in the Autumn.

…The Authority has shortened the licence of Channel Travel Radio (CTR) from eight years to five at the holder’s request. It will now expire on 31 July 2000. An invitation for declarations of intent to apply for this licence will be advertised by the RA toward the end of this year.
