NRS Increases Coverage Of Newspaper Sections

The National Readership Survey (NRS) is now releasing data on 16 additional newspaper sections, bringing the total number covered by the survey to 37. The data for the six-monthly period ending September 2000 will include this data for the first time.

The decision to increase the section coverage available on the NRS survey was made last year (see NRS To Broaden Coverage Of Newspaper Sections) and coverage now includes personal finance and business sections for the first time. The additional supplements include Thursday’s Hot Tickets in the Evening Standard, and the money and business sections from all Saturday and Sunday broadsheets as well as the Financial Mail on Sunday.

Roger Pratt, managing director of NRS, said: “The 37 sections for which we are producing estimates, together with their parent titles, now account for over 90% of national newspaper display advertising. This is a good start to the millennium for us and with the award of the next contract scheduled to be announced at the end of this year we look forward to some exciting further developments.”
