Johnston Press Gains Eight New Weekly Titles

UK regional newspaper group, Johnston Press, has paid Trinity Mirror £16m for eight free weekly newspapers and their related editions.

The titles include the Peterborough Herald & Post, the Northampton Herald & Post, the Derby Trader and five other free newspapers which circulate in and around those areas. The titles will be incorporated into the North, South and East Midlands divisions of Johnston Press Plc.

The deal has now been referred to the Competition Commission for approval.
