Gaming Titles Suffer Further Decline
Gaming magazines continue to suffer declining sales according to the latest audit from the ABC, with all but one title in the sector falling in a year on year analysis. Official Dreamcast Magazine from Dennis Publishing was the only title to increase its circulation over the period, adding 3% to its circulation base.
The worst performing title was Planet Playstation, down 48%, a decline which marks the general trend of Playstation magazines, which suffered badly during the period. However, Future’s newly launched Official Playstation 2 Magazine showed a positive start with a high first time audit figure of 81,883, despite the distribution problems of the console itself.
Other new gaming titles auditing for the first time were not so impressive. Dreamcast Solutions, started with a circulation base of 11,422, and Gameboy Power at took 10,043 sales. Other new titles, PSM2 with a circulation of 52,439 and Games Domain Offline at 78,950*, on the other hand have produced some of the overall highest figures in this field.
