Red’s Future Uncertain After Emap And Hachette Split
![]()
Hachette Filipacchi has announced an end to its joint ventures with Emap, following its purchase of Attic Futura (see Hachette Buys Attic Futura For £40 Million).
The split will see Hachette keep it’s trademark Elle brand which includes Elle Decoration and Elle Girl. However the future of Red magazine is still hanging in the balance. Marie Muzard, from Hachette told Newsline: “We are in discussions with Emap at the moment about Red and hope to reach a conclusion within the next few weeks.”
The Elle titles will join Hachette’s recent Attic Futura purchases to create a new UK magazine powerhouse in direct competition with Emap.
Hachette has confirmed that former Emap International chief executive Kevin Hand will head the new magazine group.
