Pay TV’s strength is sitting at the intersection between sport and SVOD.

That is according to David Bouchier, chief TV and entertainment officer at Virgin Media O2, who sat down with senior reporter Jack Benjamin. He argues that while pay TV faces challenges as consumer habits change, it is adapting to take advantage of new market opportunities in streaming, FAST, and other subscription services.

Bouchier discussed the increased importance of bundling, including via Virgin Media O2’s “build your own bundle” feature, as well as how the operator is taking a “less is more” approach to integrating FAST channels to its services.

He also spoke about how Virgin Media O2 is looking to move more aggressively beyond its TV offering, to also bundle subscription services for gaming, audio and more.
