Future Bolsters Board With Two New Directors

Future Publishing has announced the appointment of Dom Beaven and Mia Roberts as publishing directors heading up the company’s Digital and Games divisions with immediate effect.

Dom Beaven has been running Future’s subsidiary company FXM International since 2002, with responsibility for managing Future’s Xbox game console-related products outside the US, a position he will continue to hold. Beaven joined Future in 1991 and has held positions with the company’s successful PlayStation magazines as well as in the Entertainment division before being appointed as international development director for The Future Network. Beaven replaces John Weir who will leave the magazine giant at the end of June.

Mia Roberts is promoted to her new position from her current role as group publisher. An experienced publisher and marketer, Roberts joined the company in 1996 as marketing manager before being appointed as publisher in 1999 and group publisher in 2002.

Commenting on the the new appointments Robert Price, Managing Director of Future, said: “These are extremely well-deserved promotions. Dom and Mia have excellent track records, with extensive publishing and marketing experience. They will play a key part in achieving Future s growth plans by growing their portfolios, seeking opportunities in new and existing sectors and by maximising profitability.”

The move follows last month’s appointment of Dennis Publishing’s Andy Semple to Future’s board of directors as publishing director of its Entertainment division. Semple will join the company on June 21.

Future has enjoyed a busy few months, launching what it claims to be the world’s first paperless magazine in the form of BroadbandNow!, which is aimed at high-speed internet users and distributed electronically, as well as celebrating the 100th issue of long running technology title T3 (see Future Celebrates T3 Centenary With Advertising Push).

More recently the publisher created a special one-off magazine covering the rapidly expanding world of digital DJ-ing technology (see Future Publishing To Launch One-Off Digital DJ Magazine).
