Channel 4 Launches First Online Film Programming

Movie Rush Channel 4 has extended its online video content with the launch of Movie Rush, and online film review programme, available weekly from the broadcaster’s website.

The web-based programme, sponsored by Stella Artois, runs for 10 minutes through Channel 4’s online Video Player, offering content separated into four ‘chapters’ with related information displayed on screen next to the video image.

Featuring news on new cinema releases, recent DVD releases and a ‘Coming Soon’ section on soon-to-be-released movies, the programme is designed to be deliberately witty and irreverent.

The programme and website were designed and produced by Holler, the digital design and strategy agency. The programme features no presenters, is designed specifically for broadband and is intended to provide film lovers with all they need to know before deciding to visit the cinema.

Commenting on the new venture Jo Sathiaraj, senior commercial executive at Channel 4 New Media, said: “Movie Rush is perfect for online viewing – it’s visually stunning, packed with entertaining content and perfect for users looking for a quick catch up of the week’s top films. We’re delighted that Stella Artois has chosen to sponsor the programme, a great fit with its existing sponsorship of FilmFour and Channel 4 Film.”

Andrew Clark, account manager at Stella Artois’ digital agency Draft London added: “Statistics show Stella Artois’ digital audience has high broadband penetration, therefore the timing of Movie Rush is perfect for us. It’s executed brilliantly, ensuring that the technology does not shadow the essence of what this is all about – bringing great content to film lovers.”

Stella Artois’ sponsorship of the online show will run for an initial period of six months. The first episode is available online now, featuring reviews of Walk the Line, Grizzly Man, The Brat Pack Selection on DVD and soon-to-be-released Capote.
