Bebo Named Top Performing Social Website

Bebo Bebo has been named the top performing social networking site, beating off competition from Facebook and MySpace, in a poll published today by Computing Which? magazine.

Computing Which? looked at ease of setting up and use, features and privacy protection and security of the top 10 social networking sites.

Bebo achieved an overall score of 79%, with Facebook close behind on 74%, while News International’s MySpace had a score of 65%, just ahead of Friends Reunited at 62%.

Abigail Waraker, editor of Computing Which?, said: “Social networking sites are growing in popularity and, as the success of Bebo in our test shows, sites like MySpace and Facebook can’t rest on their laurels if they want to stay in the game.

“It’s also encouraging to see that no matter what age you are or what interests you have, there is a social networking site out there for you.”

Ofcom’s recent International Communications Market Report found that UK adults spend more time on social networking sites than their European neighbours, with 4 in 10 UK adults saying that they regularly visit the sites.

The UK adults who visit the sites spend an average of 5.3 hours each month on them and return to them an average 23 times in the month (see UK Advertisers Spend More Per Person Online Than Any Other Country).
