ITV Urges Division Of Activities At BBC

ITV has released its response to the Government’s White Paper on the future of the BBC. It calls for the BBC to separate its activities. The ITVA response welcomes the White Paper, but cautions that there is a “need for the creation of a genuinely arm’s length relationship between its public service activities and increasing commercial activities”.

The response document welcomes the White Paper’s recommendation that the BBC remains licence fee funded, but asks questions regarding BBC profits and losses and programme sales.

ITV also supports the ITC’s proposals on digital terrestrial broadcasting and the government’s recommendation of merging the BSC and the BCC.
