England Friendly Draws Over 8.3m To BBC One

Fabio Capello The debut match for new England manager, Fabio Capello, was watched by more than 8.3 million adults on average last night, giving BBC One a viewing share of 36.2% between 7.30pm and 10pm.

England’s victory over Switzerland in the friendly proved a popular choice for television viewers last night, as did Grand Designs over on Channel 4, which took a 14.4% share between 9pm and 10pm.

3.4 million adults on average tuned in to the property programme, which saw a couple construct a cartoonish gothic-style monstrosity, with Kevin McCloud as ever, not being shy about his feelings for the build.

Earlier, Channel 4 screened Relocation, Relocation, with this week’s couple moving to beautiful Budapest, but keeping a ‘crash pad’ in lovely Luton. Over 2.6 million adults (11.4%) joined the pair on their journey, with some surprising results.

Another successful show for C4 came in the form of Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares USA between 10pm and 11pm, with almost 3.1 million (18.3%) seeing everyone’s favourite foul-mouthed chef turn around another failing eatery.

Over on ITV1, almost 8.6 million (39.7%) tuned in for Coronation Street between 7.30pm and 8pm, whilst over 4.1 million (19%) then watched The Bill, with just over three million (12.7%) sticking with Honest between 9pm and 10pm.

Meanwhile, BBC Two’s most popular prime time show came in the form of Torchwood, the Doctor Who spin-off sans sexy doc, attracting almost 2.7 million between 9pm and 10pm.
