UKTV Appoints Chief Executive
John Fairley, former Yorkshire Television managing director has been appointed chief executive of the consortiium that put in the highest bid for Channel 5, UKTV.
The UKTV consortium which was put together by CanWest, last week pledged to donate 1% of pre-tax profits if it were to win the licence. Donations would go to a charitable trust named “Imagine”. The main aim would be to support the performing arts. The unveiling was announced at a conference organised by the Media Trust, a body set up to advise charities on their relations with the media.
