GfK/BARB DISH OWNERSHIP FIGURES

Both BARB and Gfk have issued their monthly dish ownership figures – both of which show a slowdown in dish as well as cable connections.

BARB data for the month to the first of August estimated that 2.501m homes now have satellite dishes – up 24,000 on last month and 204,000 on January 1993. BARB cable estimates put cable homes at 680,000 – only 6,000 up on the July figure. Gfk data for the month as at 26/6 puts dish ownership at 2.228m – an increase of 27,000 on May. Gfk data does not cover N.I, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man – but when this is taken into consideration Gfk is consistent with BARB.
