Guardian Newspapers Makes Major Appointments

Guardian Newspapers has announced the appointments of Home Editor and News Editor of the Guardian and Deputy Editor and Managing Editor of the Observer.

Mike Ellison, formerly Arts Correspondent, takes on the role of Guardian Home Editor and Harriet Sharwood becomes News Editor after being Night News Editor for the last three years.

Mr Ellison takes over from Paul Webster, who is now the Observer’s Deputy Editor. Danny John, formerly News Editor, has been appointed Managing Editor (News) of the Observer. Dan Glaister, who currently writes the Jackdaw column, will become the Guardian’s Arts Correspondent.
