Cinema Industry Near To Agreement

The Cinema industry row over the provision of admissions data to agencies appears to be nearing resolution.

At a meeting last week the Cinema Exhibitors Association, which represents cinema owners, agreed to the Cinema Advertising Association’s request that more detailed regional admissions figures should be made available.

In the past cinema owners have refused to give the admission figures for individual companies on a regional basis, which led to inaccuracies in the estimation of market share between Pearl & Dean and Carlton Screen Advertising. While Pearl & Dean reports its share as 35%, Carlton believes it is nearer to 25%.

It is now up to the individual exhibitors to consent to the proposal.
