WPP media agency Essence has chosen Anna Berry as its UK managing director.

Berry joined Essence in 2018 and was SVP head of client services EMEA working with clients such as BT Group.

Essence’s former UK MD, Ali Reed, left to join Omnicom’s PHD as its CEO earlier this year.

Previously Berry worked at MediaCom as business partner for 19 years working on accounts like Sky, Direct Line Group and T-Mobile and before that was an executive at BLM Group.

In her new role starting with immediate effect, Berry will report to Tim Irwin, EMEA CEO, and focus on growing UK business for the agency in analytics, creative, data & technology, media & strategy.

She will also work with client services and specialist teams while taking on responsibility for “evolving best-in-class business practices” including Essence Flex, the company’s new approach to hybrid working, and developing initiatives on sustainability, wellbeing, diversity and inclusion.

A replacement head of client services  for Essence EMEA will be announced soon.
