Future Appoints Fernando As New Sales Director

Future Publishing has announced the appointment of David Fernando as the sales director of its London advertising operation with immediate effect.

A new face at Future, Fernando joins from technology publishers IDG Communications where he was publishing director, with over 15 years experience in commercial publishing, having previously been on the board at Premier Magazines, now Cedar Communications.

Working from Future’s London offices, Fernando is to work closely with Future’s senior advertising management team, with a brief to develop the company’s plan for growth across its UK offices.

A key part of the new director’s role is to create a platform that delivers increased exposure of the Future brand to London media agencies, which will greatly benefit the lifestyle advertising proposition of the UK’s fifth largest magazine publisher by retail sales value.

Commenting on the appointment, advertising director Jayne Caple said: “David brings a great deal of experience to Future and his strengths will give our London team the help and support it needs to take our ad sales division to the next level.”

She added: “This is an exciting time for Future, we have ambitious targets and plans in which our London operation will play a significant role. We need to ensure that our brands are represented proactively and given the attention they deserve.”

Future recently appointed ABC to carry out circulation audits for all of its 50 magazine titles, spanning the technology, games and entertainment sectors. ABC claims the move, which comes at a time when there has been an increase in the amount of auditing work being carried out, recognises that circulation auditing is an area of speciality in its own right, while Future stated that increased accountability supported the integrity of its magazine portfolio (see Future Publishing Hands Auditing Business To ABC).
