Spotify and Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) have entered into a new podcast distribution and monetisation partnership.
Spotify’s enterprise podcast platform, Megaphone, will host and distribute WBD’s slate of shows, while Spotify will serve as one of Warner Bros. Discovery’s podcast monetisation partners via its audio-first advertising marketplace, the Spotify Audience Network.
Podcasts from different WBD verticals, such as HBO, Max, CNN, CNN en Español, Bleacher Report, WBD Sports, Adult Swim, Turner Classic Movies Network, and truTV, will be hosted and distributed via Megaphone.
Advertisers will now be able to reach these show audiences via WBD’s in-house sales team and the Spotify Audience Network.
Podcast titles include CNN’s All There Is with Anderson Cooper, HBO’s The Official Game of Thrones Podcast: House of the Dragon, and WBD Sports’ The Steam Room.
The Spotify Audience Network has become available in over a dozen markets across North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia and offers podcast creators scaled access to advertisers who can access unsold inventory.
Spotify said that, over the past 12 months, advertiser participation has grown over 45% while opted-in publishers have increased more than 70%.
