ABC May: MailOnline sees daily audience surpass 11m
For a second consecutive month, two of the usual top three performing UK news websites recorded declines – though smaller than in April – with the best-performing website, MailOnline, seeing only a slight increase in average daily browsers, according to the latest ABC analysis.
Up 0.8% period on period, MailOnline managed to add an extra 86,000 unique daily visitors in May, taking its total to just over 11 million.
Meanwhile, guardian.co.uk and Telegraph online were down -0.1% and -1.7%, respectively, followed by Trinity Mirror Nationals, down -2.7% – the greatest decrease in average daily browsers of all the websites (68,800).
There were big increases elsewhere, however, with dailystar.co.uk up a huge 34% to add an extra 120,000 average daily browsers, while Metro was up 18% to add an extra 187,500 and express.co.uk also up 18% to add an extra 85,400.
A modest 3.3% lift in average daily browsers to the Independent’s online site took its total figure to almost 1.65 million.
