Capital Radio, Atlantic 252, Chiltern Radio and Allied Radio are all reported to be preparing bids for the second Independent National Radio licence.
So far the only consortium to have confirmed its intention to bid is Eclipse Sound, which is planning a soft rock format.
Eclipse Sound is derived from Eclipse FM, which was a 14-week experiment broadcasting on the Astra Satellite last year. Spencer Prior is coordinating the Eclipse bid for INR2, the consortium includes a number of backers from Independent Local Radio. Applications for the second national radio licence close on February 4.
