The Newspaper Publishers Association has approved the new NRS test questionnaire for newspaper supplements(see NPA NRS Analysis Due Tomorrow) and the methodology will be extended to the whole sample from July 1 1998.
The IPA has welcomed the NPA’s decision, saying: “The IPA strongly supports the continuation of the NRS being the single joint industry provider of basic readership currency and would not welcome competing readership surveys for different print media sections since these would inevitably lead to confusion and increased costs.”
The IPA also said that the launch of QRS will “hopefully provide the way forward”, ie the preservation of the core industry trading currencies with interested parties providing add-on information.
