Emap Secures Nokia For OneNation Ad Push

Emap Advertising has secured Nokia as a major client for its recently launched youth-targeted sales package, OneNation.

The deal will see the new Nokia 3300 music phone promoted across Emap’s Kiss, Smash Hits, Friday Night Kiss and Big City Network, enabling the brand to target radio listeners under the age of 35 on a national scale.

Nokia has also negotiated sponsorship of Kiss FM’s Pirate Soundclash, a search for the best pirate DJ culminating in a playoff in September during which listeners can text vote for who they would like to win a three month contract with Kiss.

The sponsorship, which was brokered through MediaCom, will feature on-air station endorsed activity, as well as online and SMS activity with Kiss.

Commenting on the deal, Tom Curry, broadcast innovations executive at Emap, said: “Nokia’s decision to work with Emap shows that we are offering advertisers innovative and attractive packages that help clients target their desired markets. It is a real breakthrough for OneNation to work with a brand as strong as Nokia.”

David McConachie, strategic planner at MediaCom, added “We see this joint venture between Nokia and Pirate Soundclash as an exciting way of bringing to life the key features of the new Nokia 3300 music phone to a young urban music audience in a relevant and credible environment.”

Emap Advertising recently appointed Bruce Daisley as national brand sales director, with responsibility for the OneNation sales team (see Daisley Moves Up The Chain To Head Emap’s One Nation), which was set up earlier this year to offer advertisers tailored packages comprising the audiences of Kiss, Smash Hits and Kerrang!.
