Rajar Methodology Results

Having analysed the methodology used in its first survey, RAJAR has issued a statement that the analysis has ‘not revealed any fundamental design or operation faults’. Questions had been raised about the survey because its results differed greatly from the ‘old’ JICRAR data.

Further investigation will however take place in the following areas:

  • Representation of young people (15-24 & 15-34) – the unweighted sample was below target in these categories in most areas.
  • Contacts v non-contacts – the profile of the contact being very different from that of the other individuals in the household
  • ‘Other’ Listening – more detailed analysis will be undertaken to look at the ‘other’ stations listened to section of the diary (Other accounted for 4% of listening 4th Qtr 1992)

Any changes which are made as a result of this analysis will become effective from Quarter 2 1993, which will be published in late July.
