Phorm set to launch in 2009

Phorm Logo Phorm is expected to launch its targeted ad service in the UK in the first half of 2009.

Phorm’s system tracks web habits in order to provide targeted ads and the technology has been on trial at BT for the last few months (see Phorm Rolls Out Next BT Trial).

The trial has been deemed a success and BT are moving towards deployment of the Phorm platform across its broadband service.

Trials are continuing at Virgin Media and TalkTalk and if these are also successful the targeted ad service could potentially cover the majority of UK broadband subscribers.

At the beginning of December, Phorm’s chairman Steven Heyer stepped down following a disagreement over the future direction of the company (see Phorm chairman steps down).
