Happy Birthday Audiotrack – Adwanted’s Copy Distribution System turns ten

Happy Birthday Audiotrack – Adwanted’s Copy Distribution System turns ten

Audiotrack – the copy distribution system made for commercial audio – turns 10 this year. As part of the celebrations, The Media Leader teamed up with Adwanted UK’s Audio team to put a spotlight on creative audio over the next few weeks.

To celebrate this momentous occasion, we’ve got plenty of audio-goodies in store…

  • An interactive audio ad themed quiz
  • A three-episode podcast mini-series, covering the most pressing topics in the creative audio sphere
  • A round-table discussion where the biggest industry names discuss their favourite audio ads of all time

For those of you not familiar with Audiotrack, here’s a brief introduction/history below.

It’s been 10 years…

Since launching in 2016 (nothing else of interest happened that year, did it?), Audiotrack has come a long way.

From the bright, young upstart taking the industry by storm to a revered staple of the audio landscape, Audiotrack is now the premier commercial distribution system in the audio space. It is trusted by the majority of creative agencies and stations alike for efficient and reliable copy delivery and instructions.

While starting life as the brainchild of Adwanted UK, then known as Mediatel, it wasn’t until the arrival of Cape, then known as IMD360 and then Peach in between (an awful lot can happen in 10 years…), that Audiotrack’s rise became stratospheric.

Adwanted was already a firm fixture of the audio AdTech landscape, while Cape contributed decades of experience in creative asset delivery and deep roots within the advertising industry.

Together, they formed a partnership that combined technical innovation and industry expertise that accelerated Audiotrack’s growth and established it as a trusted solution across the market.

Powered by J-ET

Audiotrack’s true competitive edge, however, lies in its connection to another system run by Adwanted…

J-ET is UK radio’s trading and accountability system. Owned by the industry, J-ET is the gold standard for campaign creation and trading and is used by all the biggest media agencies and station groups in the country.

As the only copy delivery system linked directly to the J-ET database, Audiotrack gave users an inherent advantage from the get-go.

With the reassurance that all their campaigns, and the stations assigned to them, correspond exactly with their booking, creative agencies now have access to a more reliable copy distribution system than ever before.

Combined with an advanced and detailed audit trail, it’s easy to see why Audiotrack has become such an embedded part of the current audio workflow.

The Future of Audio(track)

The audio landscape has changed dramatically in recent years. While radio listening remains strong, the way people are listening is changing. Streaming is more prevalent than ever and podcasts are now a mainstay of the media mix.

As the audio market changes, Audiotrack is evolving with it.

Delivery to digital platforms – along with linear radio stations in the UK and the Republic of Ireland – has always been a fundamental part of the service. But, for the last couple of years, Audiotrack’s offering is far more advanced.

The introduction of VAST copy delivery is a game changer. Audiotrack no longer just delivers ads but can host and serve them to listeners instantly – presenting exponential opportunities in rapid copy changes and real-time reporting.

As a major focus for the product, Audiotrack is constantly improving in this regard and, with the team always looking to improve the service in all respects, the future looks bright.

Here’s to the next ten years of Audiotrack!
