Guardian Promotes Waldman To Digital Strategy Role

Guardian The Guardian Media Group has promoted Simon Waldman to the new role of group director of digital strategy and development.

The Guardian says that the role has been created to better integrate the group’s digital offering across all its divisions, and involves close work with group finance director Nick Castro and chief executive Carolyn McCall.

The Guardian quotes McCall as saying: “Simon is widely acknowledged as being one of the most insightful digital thinkers in the media right now.

“He has helped turn Guardian Unlimited into a world-renowned website, and has shown extraordinary prescience in assessing the digital challenges and opportunities ahead. He is uniquely placed to contribute to the growth of GMG.”

At the moment, Waldman is director of digital publishing for Guardian Newspapers national media division.
