BARB Expands Programme Atribution And Genre Coding Service

BARB Logo BARB has expanded its programme attribution (PAS) and genre coding service so that as well as its television underwriters (BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Five and BSkyB), twelve additional broadcasters of other BARB-reported channels (75 to date) now participate fully, representing nearly 90% of total TV viewing in the UK.

Programme attribution and genre coding work together to provide a programme analytical service. The expansion of this service to genre code programmes from more channels will deliver more comprehensive results.

Participating broadcasters can also use an online facility to allow them to confirm or search for the title of each programme and its assigned genre.

The additional participation will allow for more flexible and wide ranging analysis by programme genre. Analysis of programme genres across more broadcasters enhances the data available to all BARB users, including programme producers, analysts, rights management companies, advertisers and agencies.
