C5 Launches Campaign To Promote England Game
Channel 5 will be launching a major advertising campaign this weekend urging people to tune in their TV sets for England’s next World Cup qualifying clash with Poland on May 31.
The campaign begins with commercials on nearly 40 radio stations nationwide which explain that videos do not need to be retuned to pick up an interference free C5. Research indicates that people believe they need to be retuned to watch the channel when in reality retuning has nothing to do with watching 5, being necessary only for curing interference on video playback. Viewers need only to retune their set to pick up Channel 5 as they would to receive any other terrestrial channel.
The campaign will then enter a new phase in mid-May, with a mixed-media schedule being used. Posters will be employed featuring Subbuteo figures, urging people to “Lift a Finger and Tune In”.
C5 will also be the first terrestrial TV station in the UK to broadcast simultaneously on satellite.
