Elliott Rumoured As Plantin’s Successor

Nick Elliott, the controller of network drama at ITV, is rumoured to be the front-runner in the bid to succeed Marcus Plantin as head of ITV’s programming output.

According to Broadcast, there are a number of senior ITV executives who are jostling to take over the newly created post of director of programmes but Elliott has emerged as the favourite. This is due to his recent successes at the Network Centre with Reckless and Where the Heart Is. He is also said to have secured Plantin’s backing.

Other contenders are said to be David Liddiment, Granada UK Broadcasting’s managing director, Eileen Gallagher, LWT’s managing director, and Richard Platt, director of broadcasting at United Broadcasting and Entertainment.

Plantin resigned from his position of Network director at the beginning of the month (subscribers see
