Big Boost For British Film Industry

Big Boost For British Film Industry

The Arts Council has awarded £92.25 million of National Lottery funding to three film franchises. Pathe Productions, The Film Consortium and DNA Film Ltd. The money will be used to make 90 films over the next 6 years.

The investment is intended to enable the consortia to work on a variety of films, as they do in The States, rather than just one at a time. Speaking at the Cannes Film Festival, Chris Smith, the national heritage secretary said: ” I hope that we can double the British film share of the British audience to 20% over the next few years.”
