November Cinema Admissions Show Decline
Cinema admissions in November averaged 1.74 million per week which is a 12.4% decrease year-on-year.
Michael Collins topped the box office charts followed by a relatively strong performance from The First Wives Club in the last two weeks of the month. However, they were unable to compete with the release in November last year of the blockbuster Golden Eye – the third highest grossing film of 1995.
| Film | Nov Box Office |
|---|---|
| Michael Collins (15) | £4.9m |
| First Wives Club (PG) | £3.8m |
| The Craft (15) | £2.5m |
| DragonHeart (PG) | £2.4m |
| The Nutty Professor (12) | £2.3m |
December’s attendances are expected to match last year’s levels of around 2.33m a week. Due to the success of 101 Dalmations 1996 admissions are now on target for 124m – reaching 1994 levels again.
