New Delivery Areas For Fife And Northumberland

The ITC agreed on 23 January to invite applications for the local delivery franchise for Fife. The licence area covers those areas of Fife not included in existing Glenrothes and Kirkcaldy broadband cable franchise. The area contains around 74,000 homes.

The ITC has set percentages of revenue as the minimum price to be paid by any successful applicant for this franchise. The percentages are 0% for the first four years, 1% for years 5-10 and 3% for the last 5 years of the 15 year franchise.

Applicants must specify the annual cash bid by which they will supplement the percentages of revenue paid to the exchequer. If more than one applicant is judged to be satisfactory, the franchise will be awarded to the highest bidder.

….The ITC has also agreed to invite applications for a local delivery franchise for Northumberland. The licence area is defined as the County of Northumberland, excluding the area of Ponteland already included in the Tyneside broadband cable franchise. The area contains around 125,000 homes. The ITC has set percentages of qualifying revenue as the minimum price to be paid by any successful applicant. The percentages are 0% for the first four years, 2% for years 5-10 and 5% for the last 5 years of the 15 year franchise. The successful applicant will be awarded the franchise according to the same terms as above.

Applications for both franchises must be submitted to the ITC by noon on 14 April 1997
