Supplement Review – Media Guardian
The Guardian Media Section was re-launched yesterday as a stand alone supplement. It leads with an interesting interview with Murdoch Junior, Rupert Murdoch’s daughter. But, the Murdoch mind had little difficulty dodging around the questions; John Mulholland failed to drag out any interesting answers.
An expanded jobs section has helped bulk out the pages. There are 34 pages of jobs today; 6 more pages than previously. There has also been an increase in editorial pages. The ‘My Media column’ is joined by ‘My Big Break’ and ‘What are you like?,’ a tongue in cheek piece on different audiences. The expanded features’ section also has regular column inches given over to issues in the press, broadcasting, advertising and the Internet.
The Guardian wants to establish itself as ‘the’ media paper and the only place to advertise media jobs. It always has had the best media section of the all national newspapers. It remains the best place to look for and advertise media jobs. It has a new look, but behind the hype the supplement has changed very little.
The long awaited Media Guardian Internet site, due to launch the same day as the Supplement, has been delayed again. The site is not expected to go live until at least February.
