Granada Chief Moves To C&W

Cable and Wireless, the UK’s largest cable and communications company, has appointed Graham Wallace as its new chief executive. Wallace was formerly chief executive of Granada Group’s Restaurants and Services division. He has no telecoms or cable experience.

Wallace is to be chief executive of Cable and Wireless Communications, a telephony to cable television group formed by the merger of the C&W subsidiary Mercury Communications with 3 UK cable companies. Wallace has been appointed on the strength of his managerial skills rather than his technical expertise.

Wallace takes up his post on 1 February. Don Davenport, managing director of Granada hospitality, is to succeed him at Granada.
