New Programme For Chelsea Football Club

The television production company, Planet 24 has teamed up with Chelsea Football Club to kick off Radio Chelsea; a station dedicated to the club’s matches and Chelsea fans.

The Radio Authority has awarded Planet 24 and Chelsea FC a restricted to licence to broadcast between 7am and midnight, on home match days, during the playing season. It will broadcast on medium-wave and carry advertising.

Play will begin at Radio Chelsea on 22 February, the day of the club’s Premiership match with Manchester United. It will feature live-match reports and a range of speech-based programmes on everything from cookery to showbiz; the only condition being that each show has a link with football. The station controllers are keen to involve as many celebrity Chelsea fans as they can in the broadcasts. John Major, David Baddiel, Frank Bruno and Damon Hill are all keen Chelsea supporters.
