Evans’ Replacement Announced
BBC Radio 1 has confirmed that Mark Radcliffe is to takeover from Chris Evans as the Breakfast Show host. The new show will hit the airwaves on 17 February. Simon Mayo will fill in until then.
Radcliffe’s salary is not going to be in the same league as his predecessor’s. He is reported to be getting at least £250,000 a year. Radcliffe has agreed to work a full five day week, but Radio 1 has agreed to accommodate his one demand, and that is that the show will be broadcast from Manchester, instead of London.
Richard Branson, meanwhile, has offered Chris Evans a presenting job on Virgin Radio. Evans is said to have turned it down, because he only wants to do a breakfast show; Branson is refusing to sack the current Ross and Jono breakfast team.
