Earnings Per Share Up 27% At AMV

Abbott Mead Vickers plc published its preliminary results today for the year ending 31 December 1996.

1996 proved a highly successful year for the company. Turnover was up 25% to £358.4 million and operating profit rose 32% to £13.76 million. As a result, earnings per share increased by 27% year-on-year to 24.06p. Dividends per share were set at 11p, a 25% improvement on the previous year.

Peter Mead, the groups chairman, said: “This growth has been based on the continuing strength of our main agency Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, bolstered by a strategy of selective acquisitions and investments in companies which are increasingly being recognised as the best marketing services companies in their respective fields.”
