On the eve of his retirement as director of the Newspaper Society, Dugal Nisbet-Smith CBE was presented with the Society’s President’s Prize. The Society’s president, Robin Burgess said: “This is the highest recognition the Society can give and is only awarded on rare occasions and only then to people who have made a truly outstanding contribution to the provincial newspaper industry.” This prestigious prize has only been awarded 5 times in the Society’s 160 year history.
