Telewest Communications, one of the largest cable operators in the UK, has won the local delivery licence for the Lothian area, the ITC has announced.
Telewest was the only bidder for the licence and made a cash bid of £10,000. The new franchise area consists of East Lothian District, Midlothian District and those parts of the City of Edinburgh not included in the existing Edinburgh franchise. Telewest’s commitment is to serve 30,000 homes by the end of the year 2002.
