4oD to join Sky On Demand

Channel 4 has announced that its popular catch up service, 4oD, will soon be available on Sky’s newly rebranded service, Sky On Demand.

Sky and Channel 4 have entered into a new agreement that will see a range of Channel 4’s linear channels and its on-demand service, 4oD, become available across Sky’s digital platforms, with content being added to both Sky’s TV on-demand service and Sky Go.

Last week it was revealed that Sky Anytime would be getting a new facelift as well as offering for the first time video on demand content from Channel 5 and ITV. Early 2013 will also see the arrival of the BBC’s iPlayer.

Channel 4 was the final piece in the puzzle for Sky; from next year the broadcaster can boast an offering with catch-up services from all four terrestrial broadcasters, finally putting the satellite broadcasting on a par with Virgin Media.

As well as bringing Channel 4’s backlog of programming to Sky’s set-top box, it was also revealed that Film4 HD and More4 HD will be rolled out in the next few months.
