The Full Monty Is Big

Naked frolics in a northern industrial town are apparently worth turning out to the cinema for, as shown by The Full Monty which has just become the biggest grossing British film of all time. According to the Cinema Advertising Association (CAA) the film has so far taken £39.2m at UK box offices, a higher figure than either Men In Black or The Lost World: Jurassic Park.

In accordance with this record, cinema admissions show a 29% increase year on year for October with an average of 2.99 million admissions per week – The Full Monty accounts for 36% of the month’s admissions alone. Overall annual cinema attendance is currently up 10% on 1996 at 1117.1 million. This with Alien Resurrection and Tomorrow Never Dies to go.
